He was sent up : to court by the mayor. Race Riot on a Train. Lake Charles, La., Feb. 23. Pas sengers on the incoming Kansas City Southern train last night reported that a terrimo riot took place on the train in which a negro was shot to death and three white men seriously injured, one probably latany. A crowd oi white men said to , nave been intoxicated boarded the tram at a saw mill town south of Leesviue, took possession of the smoker and then invaded the negro coach. Instantly a fight started, shots and ourses were heard, and the car was almost wrecked. When the train reach ed DeQuincy the trainmen managed to eject six of the worst disturbers. No t arrests are yet reported, it is thought that one of the wounded white men will die. No names are given."
