The Contract Will be Let Tonight. The committee onpointed by the board of aldermen to investigate the waterworks and sewerage system of towns like Kinston. have returned and will make their reports tonight to the board of aldermen, when one of the proposals submitted by the engineers to make specifications and., plans will be accepted. - The committee inquired into the work done by these engineers at other places while away and will report to the board tonight the result 0fTheir Inquiry. , . . After the acceptance by the board of the proposal to survey the work and make specifications and plans six weeks will be required by the engineer to do this work before the ground will be broken for installing the system, but it is assured the publio that 1 within 12 months Kinston will have an ade quate water and sewerage service be- xore trie not season comes again. It is estimated that 875.000 will be enough for this purpose and after allowing of the 1150,000 bond issue sufficient for additions to other neces sary publio utilities there will be enough to pave a good part of Queen street, at least. '.L The Fight to Begin. 5 At a meeting of the . temperance forces last niarht it was decided to at once circulate petitlbns for the holding of an election , under the provisions of the Watts act for the establish ment of a dispensary in Kinston. It is proposed to hold the election on or about October 1st. . - - - From now until then the municipal temperature may be expected to 1 rise. The temperance people are in the fight to win, and will leave no stone unturned to secure that end.
