The Daily me mss. Put ihra E.ijry Aflernaon eicept Sui-dnV a! Kinaton. No-th Cifol'r THE FREE PRESS CO., Publisher. DANIEL T. EDWARDS, . EtitOR tntercd at th Ponolfice at second c.as ratter PARKER AND AYCOCK AGAIN Auditor Dixon i reported by the llaU igh I'ost's Vah'n,'ion corres pondent as being on' for Parker and Aycock. The auditor la now In Wash ington in connection with pun lie busi nefcs and is reported as follows: .lustre Parker is my personal choice for the Democratic presidential nom ination, and I think he has as many supporters in North "arollna us any other candtrinte who has been men tioned. As for Governor Aycock, he . is the eho'ce f everybody in the State for swond plaw on the ticket. There is n itmn in t touth who stands so Mph as cmr jnvernor in 'he estimation of the people of th country, and I think tiiis ftirt is yotiorjitl y m-oirnied. I am one of those wno believe mat it is time for the south to assert herself and again take a commanding posi tion in national politics. It wearies me to hear this ta'k thitt southern in n are unavailable for positions of honor and trust in the gift of the nation. Governor Aycock is the man up hi whom the Democracy should unite for the vice-presidential nomination. He would sweep every t ing before him. Governor Aycock is a great Heal better known n!iiriiilly than a num ber of men who have born time to t'me represented the Democracy as second man in the contests of n:it years. Me is well known as a stap's-nun of large caliber, and we ponM send pn orator abroad who would more surely prove j a vote winner for the Democratic cause than would Charles H. Avcock. The make up of a ticket in this wav to include the best that can be had in the north and the best that can be hail in the south is a consummation de voutly to be desired. The formation of a ticket Of this kind and its hearty sup port both north and south would do more than aught else to clenr away the mist of the estrangement of past years and r-unite the whole again. To he sure the enlistment of volun teers from all over the Pnion under one flag and impelled by one spirit has i tended to heal t e wounds, but that is not far-reaching enough. Should the north and the south be represented on the national ticket and should they launch a sweeping campaign, there is nothing that would more effectively in fuse into the ranks of the voters the pirit of comradeship that hinds so closely as to obscure minor faults.
