Church HI early today arrested a negro who admitted entering two houses near the brickyard operated by Churchill A Co., on the opposite side of the river from the city. The man had in his possession a revolver, flour, meat and a pair of shoes taken from the houses, which were occupied by ne VTO tenants of Churchill & Co. The man, who would not give his name to the officers, claimed to have had an accomplice, who escaped down the riv er bank. MOTORCYCLE RACES WILL FEATURE NEW BERN FAIR Children's Day on Which All Boys and Girls Will De Admitted With out Charge Will be Celebrated. New Bern, Oct. 13. Motorcycle races will be one of the features of the Eastern Carolina Fair, which is to be held at New Bem on October 27 to 30, and the lists are now open to any rider who desires to partici pate. The races will be held on Fri day, the 30th, and prizes amounting to $50 are offered to the winners. There will be no entrance fee and the only requirement is that as many as three riders shall enter the races. Wednesday of fair week will be known as children's day and every child, fifteen years or under, will be admitted to the grounds absolutely free of charge. A well known educa tor, probably Dr. J. Y. Joyner, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will deliver an address. Clyde Eby, the manager of the fair, Is now engaged in getting up the va rious exhibits, and in every depart ment these will this year be better and larger than ever before.
