CRAVEN.
New Hern, Oct. IS. - One of the
inost heartless murders to occur in
Craven county took place some time
yesterday afternoon between 3 and
45 o'clock, when some unknown per
son struck and killed II. J. Staub, a
well known citizen of New Hern,
while he was in the cow shed at his
lairy farm two miles from the city.
The crime was discovered bv Hen
ry Iaw, a colored man who has been
employed by Staub for twenty years
or more, and who was on the place
during the afternoon.
