Secretary Sutton of the Chamber
of Commerce didn't fail to tell the Du
plin folks how tobacco was selling on
the floors of the Kinston warehouse.
He told them that better prices were
being paid than anywhere else and in
vited them to come up and bring their
crops. Advertising pays.
President Young of me Norfolk
Southern said last ni'ht that Kin
nton wouldn't be benefited by n union
depot, and that it would not bring onv
dollar additional revenue into the
community. If we didn't believe in
advertising wc would agree with him,
but then we believe in ADVERTISING.
This is the morning after a n:c:;t
pleasant trip with the Kinston boost
ers through Duplin and Jones coun
ties Wednesday. The .stiff joints from
some of the jolts occasioned by the
bad roads of Lenoir are f-'till felt, but
with all that, the trip was not marred
by a single mi.-hap i.nd new and pleas
ant acquaintances were made.

Gradually the meshes f the law
Are being formed around Mrs. Car
man and it begirs to look like the
State would make a strong case
against the accused woman. The case
hinges on the testimony of a negret-s
and htr own Ktatement convicts her
of perjury, which will probably have
itn wtigM with the ji.ry.
There wcu rnj.r.y pleasant rio
wedged in the experience meeting,
which helped to create a good feeling
and the splendid barbecue was the
medium of gttting better acquainttri.

Impressed with
possibilities.
There is no doubt that the Norfolk
Southern officials, who accompanied
the Kinston citizens through south
ern Lenoir, a secticn of Jones and
into the heart of Duplin Wednesday,
v.vre g:;eatly impressed with the rich
w-.-lbilities of the magnificent un
developed teni'.ory lying to the sou.h
of Kinston. There is no doubt that
the Kinston people, who made tne
trip, were likewise imprest I, and
theie is no doubt that the people of
the section visited, as evidenced by
their representatives, who came prin
cipally from Maple Hill in Pender
county, Ch:nquap;n and Beulaville, in
Duplin, and fiom Pink Hill, in Lenoir,
realize the great latent facilities
stoied up in their sections, and that
they are eager and tf.'lxious to do
what they can to co-operate in the
plan for transportation means,
which will make it possible for them
to bring their crops to markets and
to increase their production. The
spirit of co-operation permeated the
atmosphere of the conference. Presi-
ent Young of the Norfolk Southern,
tne genial, level-headed, practical
man that he is, spoke in a hea: t-to-heai
t fashion ar.d impressed his hear
ers that his read would go as far a?
it was possible f6r it to go in bring
ing about a development of Eastern
Carolina, which would make it second
to none in productiveness in all the
world. Emphasis was laid by all tha
fpeakers upon the great natural re
sources, climatic and soil advantages
and upon the proper utilization of
them by an intelligent diversification
of crops. The possibilities were point
ed out by men t,f v large xperienee.
who hi ve had opportunity to ob'erve
the
ticket be sent out on election day
a few diya before, and we people be
asked to support it whether they
know the man and hi record or not?
This is important, and it is import
ant for every freeman to vote.

WHY
SUFFER
SO?
It took a big physician specialist
many yeJrs to find out the simple
cause of suffering and how to relieve
it. Two things, he discovered, were
always present, no matter what tha j
disorder inflammation and conges-'
tion. Relieve them and the trouble ;
and pain vanishes. His prescription,
used very successfully in his practice, '
was secured by the Nixon Laboratory j
and carefully put up under the name
of "Nixon's Menthol Calm." If you
suffer from Croup, Neuralgia, Pneu
monia, Sore Throat, Headache, Ear
ache, Swellings, Soreness and Stiff
ness, Pleurisy, Coughs, Bronchitis, or
Rheumatism, you are in fact suffer
ing from congested and inflamed con
ditions. Instead of paying $1 to $2
for the prescription you can now go
to the drug store of J. E. Hood & Co.,
Kinston, N. C, and get a bottle of it
for only 25 cents. Be sure it's Nix
on's Menthol Balm.
