"Crazy." a terrier at City Hall, begs for her living and goes to the mar ket for beef. The Industrious dog takes a five-cent piece in her mouth and plods across Queen street to a market, where she deposits the money on the floor and calls the attention f the proprietor to it. The nickel's equivalent in beef, wrapped, is given her, and Crazy trots briskly back tome with it Thia is repeated sev ral times a day. T. Hicks Loses Hand When Gun of Hunting Companion Is Acci dentally' Discharged. With Terrible Result. News reaches Kinston of a deplor able accident to S. T. Hicks, a Green ville man, well-known here. Hicks, 1 a plumbing and heating contractor, has recently been a frequent visitor here, having a contract or two in the city. He had been minting on Tar river with R. L. Johnson and was re turning in a boat. Hicks was on the 1 stern sheets and Johnson in the cab- in of the launch. The latter accident ally discharged a gun, and the full charge took effect in one of Hicks' j hands, blowing it away. Several i stray shot grazed his face. Hicks last summer lost a son by drowning.
