CONDUCT OF BOTO LAWYER AND JUDGE BE INVESTIGATED (Continued from Page 1) that body.! We will contend that the Solicitor is as much a part of the court as the presiding Judge. He is a constitutional officer, and is exclu sively responsible for the handling of the docket" Mr. Wooten intimat ed that in his opinion the Judge had no right to order the Solicitor to sit down without giving him a chance to state his case. V When asked about the New Bern bar's endorsement of Judge Carter, Mr. Wooten said he thought such action was ill-advised. "The lawyers should have attempted to reconcile the two gentlemen," said the Kinston attorney. Friends of Solicitor Abernethy de clare that he is simply seeking an In vegtigation of the events transpiring at . New Bern and that he has not asked for any fine-tooth comb inves ligation. If, however, the Legisla ture thinks that such is necessary, Mr. Abernethy, his friends say, will not be opposed to it for he has noth ing to fear. The suggestion that the private conduct of Mr. Abernethy be looked into, which has been made, is taken by some as a retaliatory act because there have been rumors of charges of immoral conduct against Judge Carter. Such rumors, it is un derstood have gained considerable circulation in Raleigh. " DUDLEY 2i inches NORMAN 2yi inches ARROW COLLARS I far SS rt..
