Brid- gers based his discourse Monday night at the revival meeting now be ing conducted at Queen Street Meth odist church. In following out his thought, the speaker declared that Jesus, although a Jew, because of his perfect wisdom SnJ complete consecration to his task, deliberately went through Lychar, in Samaria, on his way from Judea jinto Gafllilee, and this although the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans. Je sus took this course because of the lesson he knew that he could teach to the Samaritan woman and through her, to all the worlu. through all generations. Jewish exclusiveness was held up by the speaker as suggestive of a certain aloofness that characterizes all too much of the Church toda: in its attitude toward a sinful world This was made the basis for a plea that Christians, while holding them selves spotless from the world, should at the same time lend a help ing hand and thus devote themsel ves to a life of service. The meeting was a very practical one and was concluded by a big pray er service wherein a very large num ber of those present joined Mr. Brid gers. Rev. H. A. Humble, pastor of Queen Street church, and Rev. B. P. Smith, pastor of Gordon Street Christian church were around the al tar in earnest prayer for the strengthening of the Christian for ces of the community. Service This Morning. Mr. Bridgers' sermon this morn ing at the 10 o'clock service was a continuation of his general discus sion of the baptism of the Holy Spi rit. The evangelist called attention to the two baptisms John's baptism water and Christ's baptism of the Holy Spirit spoken of in the third chapter of Matthew. He showed that the baptism of the Spirit is an essen tial of the deeper experiences of the Christian life and of ultimate sal vation, and he concluded with an ur gent request that his hearers read the first two chapters of Acts before the night service, and earnestly seek this deeper power of God. Oettinger's TRAVELLING GOODS AGRICULTURAL PASTURAGE PURPOSES. By C. It. Williams. Chief, Division of Agronomy. Soy beans being a leguminous crop, and being rich in protein, or muscle-forming material, and being palatable to stock, either as a hay or pasturage crop when the stock be come accustomed to them, are well adapted for these latter purposes. If a selection of varieties be made or if different dates of planting the same variety be made, a succession of pasturage may be provided for hogs for several weeks during tht early fall. For instance, in using different varieties planted at the same time, the Black Eyebrow would be ready for pasture fairly early while the Mammoth Yellow plante at the same time would come on lat er after the Black Eyebrow had been grazed.
