OBSERVATIONS.
There is one gentleman here
from Western North Carolina who,
from a political viewpoint, will
bear watching. His is a clean,"
wholesome, hail-fellow-well-met
make up. Strong in mind and
body, suave in manner, diplomatic
in style, versed in "ways and
means" of political development,
he is slowly but surely forging. his
way to the. front where the lime
light of "big" politics will fetch
him into strong relief and he will
surely measure to the required
standard. .
In 1903, he represented Hay
wood county here in the House.
In 1905, he was elected to the office
of engrossing clerk by the House
and again in 1909. . He is holding
that office again this term.
In-the preliminaries of the cam
paign for a nominee on the Demo
cratic ticket in the Tenth Congres

a possible candidate. For obvious
reasons he would not
