Mrs. Sam H. Yancey entertained ast Friday afternoon the members of the Friday Club and a few friends at the home of her sister. Mrs. Minnie Blanton. Mrs. Yancey was assisted in her social duties by Mrs. Winborno and Miss Lucile Blanton. Every thing pertaining to the affair was very dainty, especially the hand-painted score cards, which were much admired by the guests. Mrs. W. W. Neal entertained at 'Five O'clock Tea" orr Monday afternoon in honor of her guest, Miss Hinshaw, of Winston-Salem. A number of ladies called during the appointed hours and this re ception was socially delightful. On Monday night Mrs. Neal en tertained a number of the young ladies and gentlemen compliment ary to Miss Hinshaw. This affair was likewise charming. Miss Hin shaw returned to her home Wed nesday after an extended visit in Asheville where she was maid of honor at a recent wedding. Hospital for Marion. Dr. Gaston B. Justice has an nounced that he will open a hos pital in Marion at once. The hospital will be in the D.vsart build ing on State street. The work of remodeling the building will be commenced this weelf. The in terior of the building will bo put in Orst class condition and improve ments made on the yard. Dr. Justice states that he has ordered the furniture and fixtures and is confident he will have the hospital ready for patients by April 1. The Marion Hospital is to be the name of the new institution. Competent trained nurses will bo employed and there will be about fifteen beds. Drs. G. S. Kirby and J. F. Jonas will bo connected with the hospital. The need of irbospital in Marion has long- been felt and, properly managed on an economical plan, will be a success. During Lent services will be held at the Episcopal church as follows: Holy Eucharist, every Thursday at 9 a. m. Evening Song or Litany, every Friday at 4 p. m. Services next Sunday; with Morn ing Prayer and sermon at 11 a. m. and evening song and sermon at 4:30 p. m. R. C. Cochran, who has been a guest of Mrs. Keetcr for the past month, left Monday to resume bis work in Northern Canada. On his way there he will visit friends in Washington, Warren, and Que bec. Mrs. Cochran, who has been very ill is much improved, but will remain here with her mother until spring. The entertainment at the Grad ed School. last Friday night was a most enjoyable affair. The audi torium was well filled with an ap preciative audience, all of whom greatly enjoyed theentire program, which was well rendered and in teresting throughout. Especially excellent were the songs by the children and the farce, "The Mouse Trap," by the high school pupils, was well presented and pleased the audience.
