Miller, of Watauga county, working in con- nectioD with the UDiversity Bureau of ExtensioD, McDowell county ranks as the 84th county in North Carolina in the ownership of auto mobiles. There are 22 automobiles in the county, or one car for every 123 families. Guilford, {Jew Han- ever and Currituck ranked first with a car for every 12 families. Guilford lead the State in number of cars owned with 985, Mecklen- burj;^ following a close second with 983. Three counties, Mitchell, Alleghany and Graham, did not have any at all. From June 1st, 1915 to January 1st, 1916 automobiles increased in the State from 16,410 to 21,684, or nearly 80 per cent. NEBO Nebo, March 7.—Miss Mamie GK>forth of Dysartville is visiting her sister, Mrs. G. D. Taylor, this week. The school committeemen haye ac cepted the resignation of Prof. L. L. Hargrave, and Prof. CJreele of Ruther ford College has taken his place as prin cipal of Nebo High School. Dr. H. C. Taylor has purchased a lot from C. M. Hemphill on North Main street and will build a house on it soon. Misses Ola Giles, Mamie and Lionii Goforth spent the week-end with their annt, Mrs. Mamie Erwin, in Morganton. East-bound train No. 36 had so much mail for Nebo on March 1, that the train had to be stopped so the mail agent could put the mail off. Will Landis of Dysartville spent Sat urday and Sunday with friends and relatives in Nebo. Miss Winnie Wilson of Asheville spent last week with homefolks here. Mrs G. H. Weaver, who has been visiting relatives and friends in the eastern part of state, has returned home. J. L. Padgett of Valdese spent Sun day here with homefolks. The Indiana State Board of Health has recently ex amined two specimens of aspirin One contained nothing but milk sugar and alum; the other common chalk and cream of tarta.
