LIBRARY MOVEMENT
IN MARION.
Contributed.
A most worthy cause being: es
poused by the progressive citizens of
Marion, is the effort to secure a pub
lic library for our town. With such
an ideal before us, we feel sure of
the co-operation of everybody in our
midst.
Good books in the hands of a few
may lead to much that is worth while
in a community, but if we desire the
good that should come to our town
from such a source then we must
have a library worthy of the name
and open to all; a library of which
we are justly proud and kept in the
proper order.
Is it not possible with our abund
ance of enthusiasm, self-faith and
ability to achieve success in this un
dertaking as we have in many other
lines? Are we too aspiring when
we suggest that we might even have
a Carnegie Library?
In co-operation with other friends
of the cause the ladies of the town
will give a few entertainments for
the purpose of beginning a library
fund. The first of these entertain
ments will be given at the McDowell
Hotel on Wednesday afternoon, Sep
tember 29, from 3:30 to 6 p. m.
Tables will be arranged for games
and music and readings will be fea
tures of the occasion.
Let all the people,. young and old,
come to this informal gathering and
lend a hand in the establishment of a
library which we may all enjoy and
from which we may receive much
benefit. Remember the date, the
place and the hour.
Refreshments will be served. Ad
mission fifty cents. Everybody
come.
