Charlie Rowland, the popular and hard-hitting catcher of the Tar Heels, has been sold to the Philadelphia Athletics, according to a statement made by the local baseball club. Dunn. Plans for the completion of Dunn's paving project, started in 1916 and on which work was stopped after asphalt reached so high 'a price, are now under consideration by the board of commissioners who hope soon to resume paving. Statesville. Statesville is to have another modern hospital. The new enterprise will be known as the Davis hospital and is being promoted by Dr. James W. Davis, who has been asso ciated with the Carpenter-Davis hos pital as general surgeon for the past two years. Greensboro.
