S. R. CROSS HOSTESS TP CONTRACT BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. S. R. Cross was hostess to her club, the Tuesday afternoon Contract, at her home on Main street this week. The rooms were ar tistically arranged with beautiful red gladiolas and green foliage. The Christmas idea was farther conveyed in the party appointments. Mrs. Grayson Neal received high score, a dainty handkerchief. For invited guest, Mrs. Cross had her mother and sister,, Mrs. I. I. Davis and Miss Minihyl Davis, and Mrs. Elizabeth Little. After cards were put aside, covers were laid and luncheon served consisting of turkey and accessories. Small red candles in tiny holders were placed for each guest, and nov elty candy favors in the shape and color of little Santa Clauses were passed around. ENTERTAINS FRIENDS THIRTEENTH BIRTHDAY | Bill Morris was host to a number of his friends at his home last Satur day evening when he entertained at a party in celebration of his thir teenth birthday anniversary. Upon the arrival of guests, a unique con test was engaged in. Throughout the evening games were enjoyed and prizes for the successful contestants awarded. A large birthday cake in I Christmas colors with thirteen red l candles around the miniature Santa Claus in the center, was brought in, ! and each guest given an opportunity to cut a slice from it. Dimes, bache lor buttons, horseshoes, thimbles and other lucky and unlucky symbols were found in the cake. At the close of the merry making, Mrs. Rogers served a sweet course to the eighteen guests present. MRS. BLANTON HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Members of the Wednesday Af ternoon Bridge Club and additional guests were entertained by Mrs. Al bert Blanton at her home on View Point Drive last week. The Christ mas colors were observed in the dec orations. Besides the club personnel, Mrs. Albert Carpenter, Mrs. R. B. Crisp, Mrs. R. J. Noyes, Mrs. G. B. Justice, Mrs. B. A. Dickson, Mrs. J. M. Sullivan and Mrs. A. S. Bradford were present. High score prize went to Mrs. J. Will Pless, and Mrs. A. S. Bradford as honor guest was presen ted with a lovely gift. Mrs. Blanton served a salad to her guests. MRS. HARRIS HOSTESS TO CONTRACT BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Charles Harris entertained I members of the Contract Bridge i Club at her home on Thursday af ternoon. The Christmas motif was carried out with tallies in Santa Claus shapes and colors. Invited ! guests for the club were Mrs. Albert Carpenter, Mrs. Fred Bryson and i Mrs. J. M. Sullivan. THURSDAY AFTERNOON BRIDGE CLUB MEETS The Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club met at the home of Mrs. Wil liam Alley on that afternon of last week. Pot flowers decorated the rooms in which members played. Mrs. W. H. McMahan, Jr., won high score prize and was given a hand some pewter cream and sugar set, while Mrs. Roger Davis scored next highest and received two silhouettes. As an invited guest, Mrs. Joe Stan ley was present. A salad by the hostess. MRS. COONE ENTERTAINS AT DINNER PARTY Mrs. L. B. Coone entertained at a small dinner party at her home on Monday evening complimenting sev eral members of the school faculty before their departure for the holi days. The rooms were decorated in Christmas colors with quantities of green leaves. After a delightful din ner the guests gathered around the Christmas tree in the living room and found that Santa Claus had left j novelty gifts for each of them up-j on ft. lowed by a sweet course CHRISTMAS DANCE Rex King and his Silver Slipper Orchestra, featuring Miss Frances Robinson, popular vocalist, will play for a dance at Lake James Tuesday night, December 26.
