$10,000 IS OUR QUOTA * ' IN THE 1949 March of Dimes Campaign More Than $6,000.00 Over Last Year! i McDowell county people are being asked to give nearly three times as much in the MARCH OF DIMES campaign this year as they contribut ed last year.. This is indicative of the greatly increased needs for funds to combat this grave menace to the health of our people. It is also a measure of the increased effort that must be made to raise the quota. Polio reached an epidemic stage in several parts of North Carolina last year. Money must be provided to continue treatment of its victims and to continue research into the methods of controlling and finally elimi nating this menace. There must also be a reserve available in case the state again has a serious outbreak of the disease. While the quota as signed to us seems large in comparison to assignments in previous years, it amounts to considerably less than a dollar for each person in the * county. Polio is a menace to the health of all. It is, therefore, the common ob ligation of all of us to do our utmost to resist and overcome it. Let's comfort and sustain its victims and diminish its danger to the ablebodi ed by throwing our dollars and dimes into the fight GIVE FREELY!
