The golf links is thronged with players these days. Horseback parties have been numerous during the past week. Ice cold soda all the popular flavors on draught at the golf club house. Fine new stock of ladies' and gents' furnishings just received at the store. The guests at the Berkshire will have :i valentine party next Wednesday even ing. The village is getting pretty well filled with people, but there is room for a few more. The prayer and praise service next Sunday evening will be lead by Mr. Marine. The electric lights are now on until 11 -30 p. m.. instead of 11 o'clock as formerly. A new line of ginghams, percales, cal uoesand cambric received at the store this week. Don't forget the Pinehurst lady min strels, who will appear on the Village I hi 11 stage in the near future. H. liinger and family have moved from t e Treniont to Yucca cottage which "'ey have taken for the winter. Another cash-carrier, connecting with the shoe counter, has been installed in l,ie Department Store this week. A prayer meeting will be held in the v,1)"e Hall next Thursday evening at 7.30 o'clock. All cordial lv invited to attend. A social hop will be held in the music room at Holly Inn every Saturday even ing. Our villagers are cordially invited to attend. The plumbers employed in the village will give a dance at the Power House Cafe this evening. Music by Finnegan's orchestra. Rev. C. M. Emery will occupy the pulpit at the Christian union services next Sunday morning. Service com mences at 10.45 sharp. A large party of the guest at Piney Woods Inn visited our village yesterday afternoon, coming over in a large wagon drawn by four horses. Our efficient assistant postmistress, Mrs. II. S. Davis, has returned to the post office after several days illness. Her many friends are pleased to see her on duty once more. A week from next Sunday Pev. P. M. Prescott will conduct Episcopal services in the Village Hall in the morning. On that day the Christian union services will be held in the afternoon. Mr. J. W. Adam's class in Spanish will meet at the Waldheim next Monday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Any one wishing to join can do so by applying at the above time and place. Last Friday evening a heart party was given at the Magnolia and was thoroughly enjoyed by the guests 'it that hostelry and their friends. Light refreshments were served during the evening. The regular weekly public concert by the Holly Inn orchestra will be held in the music room at. Holly Inn next Sun day evening at 8 o'clock. Our villagers are cordially invited to attend. Pev. P. M. Prescott went to Southern Pines last Sunday morning and con ducted the services in the Episcopal church there. Quite a number of our villagers went over to attend the service. The new building, "Hubbard" cottage, at the Pickford Sanitarium for colored consumptives was dedicated yesterday noon. This building will be used for the care and treatment of consumptive negro women. Last Monday Messrs. P. li. Seymour, E.A.Johnson and E. A. Manice, who are at Holly Inn for the - winter, spent the day hunting in the vicinity of Drowning Creek and brought home about fifty quail as a result of the day's sport. The regular weekly hop was held in the music room at Holly Inn last Satur day evening and was well attended. Excellent music was furnished by the orchestra under the direction of Mr. Trev. Sharp, and the affair was throughly enjoyed by all. Tickets for stations on the Aberdeen & Asheboro railroad, and to all points orth and east, via the Southern rail way, can be purchased at the Pinehurst postoffice. This arrangement will remain in effect until the completion of the new A. & A. passenger station in our village. The new station will probably be ready for use about the middle of next month. The grounds about the Carolina are rapidly being put in shape under the direction of Mr. Louis Letien. Over one hundred thousand trees and plants will be set out in the part of the grounds that are to be finished this season, and the outlying sections will take many more. Heautiful specimens of holly, dogwood, sourwood, pine, cedar, arbor vitas, box bush, and other foliage and flowering trees and shrubs have already been set out and are doing finely. When com pleted these grounds will rank among the finest in the state. Niuidny Service. The following religious services will be held in the Village Hall next Sunday : 10.45 a. m., preaching service. 12.00 in., Sunday school. 3.15 p. m., Episcopal services, Pev. Mr. Gregory officiating. 7.15 p. m., praise and prayer service. A cordial invitation is extended to all. Colored t'liurcli Humeri. The Jackson Hamlet colored church, located about two miles from the village, was burned to the ground about 4 o'clock last Wednesday morning. The origin of the fire is a mystery, as there were people in the church up to 10 o'clock that evening and when they left there was no fire of any kind in the building. The church was built two years ago, largely through the efforts of Pinehurst guests. llaby Show anl Cake Walk. Arrangements are being perfected for a grand baby show and cake walk to be held in the Village Hall about the last of thi? month. All colored babies born in the United States within two years are eligible to compete. Liberal prizes will be offered for the babies and the couples in the cake walk. An interesting pro gram will be given and the entertainment is sure to be one of the most notable events of the season. Entries for the baby show may be made at The Out look office. Now is the time for the proud mothers to trot out their prize babies. We want all colored babies less than two years old to enter for the cash prizes. Colored singers and dancers, and players on banjo, bones and violin are wanted to take part in the entertainment, and should apply at this office. Entertainment Next Week. The next entertainment in the Village Hall will be the laughable one-act farce 'My Turn Next," presented by the Pine hurst Amateur Dramatic Union, which will be given next Friday evening at 8 o'clock. The change this week from the regular evening is made on account of the Valentine party at the Berkshire which will beheld on Wednesday. Fol lowing is the CAST.
