THE PINEHURST OUTLOOK. Hotel Preston BEACH BLUFF, MASS. H. W. PRIEST, Proprietor. PIflEHURST is a Unique Town in the SOUTHliflP Apparently a Yankee village dropped down in the woods. It is located in the highest and dryest part of Moore County, North Carolina, in the well known sand belt, and among the health giving long-leaf pines. It is 70 miles southwest of Raleigh and 125 miles from the sea coast, at an altitude of 650 feet, and noted for its healthfulness. The village was founded by Mr. James W. Tufts of Boston, in 1895, and con sists of fifty cozy cottages, elegantly furnished hotels, boarding and apartment hous es, public casino, village hall, schoolhouse, store, mu ; :- seum and other public ?, buildings. The Carolina, the largest hotel in the state, is a magnificent four story hostelry erected this season, with appointments calculated to gratify tre most luxurious tastes. This building also con tains a ladies' parlor, game room and a reading room sup plied with the leading periodi cals for the free use of the villagers. Bath rooms are also to be found here. The houses are all substantially built, paint ed and plastered, well furnished and supplied with all modern comforts and conveniences, in cluding electric lights, Pinehurst spring water, and perfect sani tary drainage. Golf experts and all those who cherish the hope of becoming such, will find excellent opportunity to indulge in the game. . The Pinehurst Links covers 150 acres of fenced land, is recognized as bein among the finest in the . -country, and attracts crit ical players by the great variety of natural and arti ' ficial hazards.
