THE Village and Carolina nines crossed bats . on the Village Green for the second game of the season; Tues day afternoon, and the victory of the Village team, three to two, was uncer tain until the last man of the opposing team was out. Of brilliant plays there were many, conspicuous among which was a triple by Finnegan, Frawley, Trafton and Ilannan of The Carolinas, and a double by Diflin and l'age of the Village. And when Mulcahey sent a corking drive to left, in the first half of the eighth, let ting in two of The Carolina men who filled the bases, and tying the score, the rooters went wild. A w ild throw, how ever, in the last half of the eighth gave the Village team the extra and winning run. Both pitchers were in excellent form and their work was one of the features of the afternoon, but the players found the ball occasionally, giving an inierest to the game which the first contest did not contain. Finnegan of The Carolinas struck out thirteen and Eastman of The Village twelve men. The company of onlookers was large and included many guests of the Village who are showing a lively interest in the battles which are to follow. 1. J. Ward of Boston, umpired with a skill born of long experience giving gen eral satisfaction to all concerned.
