Mr. Cory is one of the best known golfers in the country, a member of a dozen or more clubs, the owner of several private courses, and the winner of numberless cups. John M. Ward of the Fox Hills Golf Club, Staten Island, Brooklyn's lawyer golfer, will also participate. Mr. Ward has figured prominently in Metropolitan golfing circles for years and he was the runner-up in last year's championship, Mr. Ward has been a frequent visitor here and an ardent admirer of Pine hurst. Edwin A. Freeman of the Montclair Club, and the local club champion, will also participate. Mr. Freeman's match with Travis in the preliminary rounds of the inauguration tournament, was one of the features of this event. John Moller, Jr., Luther L. Kellogg, George T. Brokaw and Arthur J. Lock wood, are among the other prominent players whose entries have already been received. THE PROGRAM IN OUTLINE. The week's program will formally open Monday, April fourth, with the eighteen-hole medal play qualification round of the Women's Championship, in which cups will be offered for the best gross and best net scores. The eight best gross scores will qualify for the match play rounds in which there are cups for the winner and runner-up. Tuesday, April fifth, will be devoted to driving, approaching and putting con tests, open to both men and women, and Sterling cups are offered in each event. The Championship event proper begins Wednesday morning, April sixth, with an eighteen-hole qualification round in which a gold medal is offered for the best gross score. The first sixteen will qualify for the match play rounds for the Championship cup, the second sixteen for The Carolina cup, the third for The Holly Inn cup, and the fourth for The Berkshire cup. There are silver medals offered for the runner-up in each division. The eight players beaten in the first match play round of each of these events, will play for consolation cups, one for each division. Should more than sixty-four players participate, cups will be offered for each additional sixteen. Friday, April eighth, there will be an eighteen-hole medal pliy handicap with a gold medal for the bett gross score, the Pinehurst cup for the best net score and a silver medal for the second best net score. The week will be brought to a close Saturday, April 9th, with a thirty-six hole, medal,play, scratch handicap, open "Southern Championship" event. The prizes are $100, and a championship gold medal for the winner, $30 for the second, and $20 for third. In uiits of Lenox Head Storien Original Itrawla, On Friday evening last the Misses Josselyn entertained their friends most agreeably at The Lenox. There was an art exhibition to which each guest contributed at least one original draw ing and prizesswere awarded to those who most successfully guessed the story each picture was designed to tell. Mr. and Mrs. John G. Nicholson of New Bedford, Mass., took the first and second prizes. Refreshments were served and the evening closed with merry waltzes and a Sir li ley.
