THE annual match play Spring handi
cap, begun Saturday, developed
one of the prettiest tournaments of the
year and resulted iu many close matches.
The event was open to men and women
and there were two classes, A and It,
with cups for the winners and run-ners-up
in each. There were sixty par
ticipants. A cup was also offered for
the best net score made by the women
in the qualification round.
Dwight Partridge of Bedford, N. Y.,
playing with a match play handicap of
six strokes, won the final round in class
A, from J. W. Johnson of Ardsley,
whose handicap was also six, three up
and two to play.
Dr. G. V. Murdock of Cold Springs,
N. Y., whose matcli, play handicap was
one, won the final round in class B,
from W. Benson, A I ban' Country Club,
Albany, whose handicap was four, two
up and one to play.
The cup offered for the women's best
net score in the qualification round went
to Miss Edith Harnett of New Haven,
Conn., who played with a medal play
handicap of live, and made a net icoie
of ninety-seven.
