NEW BUILDING COMPLETED Pinehurst Schools Will Occupy Hew and Modern Building This Season. . College lrpttiatory, CJraniniar ami Primary School with Instruc tion in all Ilranche HE Pinehurst Schools will all be gathered to gether this season in the handsome and commodi ous new building which is just being completed for this purpose. In the establishment and growth of these schools Pinehurst takes considerable pride for they offer excep tional facilities for study and instruction during the winter season, and add much to the dignity and character of the Vil lage. In a word the Schools make it possible for whole families to enjoy the benefits of a season here, or for parents to send children whom it is advisable to have situated so that they may make the most of out-door sports and recreations while pursuing their studies during the win ter season. The schools embrace College Prepara tory, Grammar and Primary Schools, furnishing instruction in all branches of these grades. There is no regular course of study to which all are expected to conform, all studies being elective and prepared for the special needs of the pu pil. Provision is also made so that pu pils may enter at any time and for any length of time, making a long or short stay here and returning to their home classes without loss. Private tutoring in all branches of study, including grammar, college pre paratory and college work is provided for, as well as private instruction for young women. Special attention is also given to French and German conversa tion. In addition to the opportunities for the enjoyment of out-door life in an ideal climate, Pinehurst is free from all objec tionable associations, and pupils here are removed from the usual temptations of school life. Pupils coming alone are looked after carefully by the head mas ter and his assistants, and they may live at either the cottages or hotels. Head Master Aldice G. Warren who returns for his third season, realizes that "men not books" educate, and he has a way of winning the friendship of those under his instruction which at once commands respect and confidence. He is the ''good friend" of every pupil in the school and because of this he exerts without apparent effort, a powerful in fluence for good over them. Mr. Warren's summer school at Sodus Bay, New York, has been eminently successful and has the endorsement of scores of prominent men and leading educators. He is a graduate of the Uni versity of Rochester and was for some time a successful lawyer in his native town, taking up teaching purely from an inborn love of the work. He has had a wide experience in preparatory schools and private tutoring and knows how to meet "boys as few men do. IfEW YAIUIOIICHJGII. llalviffh Hotel Will be Ilevelation to Northern Visitor. The New Yarborough Hotel at Raleigh, N. C, will be a revelation to Northern visitors who hqve their ideas of Southern city hotels firmly fixed by many and painful experiences, and because of the delightful surprise the place creates from the moment one enters until he leaves, success for the undertaking is assured. Visitors to the Yarborough are not only surprised but delighted and they go away anxious to let others know what they have found. Landlord Cobb has entirely refitted the house at a great expense and with intel ligence born of long years of experience with the very best class of people. Com bined with this is a sense of the artistic, the fitness of things, which produces a most delightful impression. There is elegance, good taste and com fort everywhere, and with increasing knowledge, the tide of travel is bound to turn more and more towards this splen did hostelry. It is sure to become a point of interest to Pinehurst visitors also, just as Pinehurst will become a point of interest for its guests. In addition to the large office, comfor table writing rooms, spacious parlors and elegant suites with bath, there is a pretty cafe, and several delightful private dining rooms ; one of the latter called the Japanese and the other the Red room. Raleigh is a beautiful Southern city, with a wealth of magnificent oaks, pretty homes and splendid roadways as its special features, and there is much here to interest Northern visitors ; the capitol, state buildings, points of historic interest, schools, churches, amusements, museums and business houses. The winter climate is compared with Los Angeles, Mexico, Naples and Rome, and not only a very satisfactory winter temperature but a most desirable all the year average. Mr. Cobb is enthusiastic over its possibilities as a resort and he is surely doing his share towards bringing this end about. lt. GEOItGE 8.
