The weather has been like August in New England, the surf most refresh ing, and the cool shadows of the "jungle" path inviting. The tri-weekly base ball games are well under way and arousing much inter est, for the teams are evenly matched and playing good ball. Fishing is excellent and many are en joying it, and the fleet of sail boats is always busy. The Cook County Democratic Club, numbering nearly 150, passed through here last week en route for Cuba by a special train of seven cars. Interest in the motor boat races is growing keener each day and many of the fastest flyers in the country are here for the races which will begin today. Huiet Week at Camden. Camden, S. C, February 2 Lovers of out door sports experienced bitter disap pointment during the week just passed, for the weather was such as to prohibit golf, polo and riding, and forced one to seek refuge by the fireside and turn to cards and music for recreation. In spite of the disagreeable day the polo men got out for a short practise on Tuesday and half a dozen enthusiasts of the fair sex wrapped themselves in furs and shivered on the grand stand, declar ing that nothing could keep them in doors when polo was to be seen. On Saturday nine hardy golfers faced the bleek north -wind and journeyed around the links with a downey mist and dampening both their ardor and their clothing, and when the cards were hand ed in there was a general movement toward the Club where hot-scotch and a roaring "fat" pine fire served to cheer their drooping spirits. The results' of the afternoon were as follows : Gross JIdcp. Net D. L. Edwards 43 0 43 J. C. Ogilvie 61 8 43 J.B.Wallace 51 8 43 It. L. Barstow.Jr., 46 2 44 C. II. Yates 45 0 45 J.
