Virginia Beach, Feb. 28 The Prin cess Anne threw its hospitable doors open on the usual date, and many old and new friends were on hand to register. A pleasant observance of the occasion was a German, tendered by the management, many from Norfolk and elsewhere coming to enjoy the occasion with the guests of the hotel. The hall was attractively decorated, and lunch was served at in termission, following which an ovation was tendered to the popular proprietor, James S. Groves. Coaching, golfing, walking and sailing parties are much in evidence, the pine forests which surround the hotel afford an Arcadia for the many bridal parties stopping here. Automobiling also claims its fair share of attention, affording the motorist ex ceptional opportunities for speed. The beach is as hard as rock, and for over fifty miles there is not a break or turn. Many parties go to the scene of several wrecked vessels to see the wrecking crew at work on the cargo. Although the weather has not been warm, a few have taken advantage of the excellent bathing. Among those who have been seen almost daily in the surf, is Capt. W. II. Lyon, Jr., of Peterson, la., who for some time has been con nected with different diplomatic stations in both Europe and Asia. Among some of the far away guests are : Mrs. Chas. W. Warten, Miss Pattie Warten and Miss Louise Warten, Toronto, Canada; Mrs. E. li. llearle, Montreal; Mr. W. 11. Brock, Toronto; Mr. Geo. 11. Burtt, Ilartland, Canada; Miss G. A. Aird, Detroit ; Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Swain, Aberdeen, S. D.; Miss K. IJ.Snyden,Los Angeles, Cal. ; Mr. F. L. Palmer, New Haven, Ct. ; Mr. J. E. Palmer, Middle town, Ct.; Capt. W. II. Lyon, Jr., Peter son, la., and many from New York, Bal timore, Philadelphia, Washington, Nor folk and Portsmouth. At Jackson Sprlng-a. Jackson Springs, N. C, Feb. 27 Visitors here are making much of the de lightful weather and sports and pleasures out of doors are dividing the time with indoor diversions. Golf, fishing, bowling and the. like all have their devotees, bridge Avhist claims many, and the home like fireplace in the sitting room, with its blazing, spluttering, pine logs, is a fa vorite rendezvous after supper each even ing. Pinehurst visitors continue to find pleasure in trips here, many riding or driving over for the day. Mrs. Henry Dixon and Miss Dixon, Miss Jenkins, New York ; Mrs. C. W. James, Evanston, 111. ; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sayles, Brook lyn ; Mr. F. A. McMartin, New York, made up a recent party. A still later group included Miss Kate McCracken, Waynesville, N. C. ; Mrs. II. B. Stillings, Master Iiussell C. Stillings and Mrs. M. E. Baxter and Miss Baxter, Pinehurst. Mrs. P. M. McColfelt, New York, and Miss Bodine, Philadelphia, were also re cent visitors. Among the. rapidly assembling guests : Miss Esther Ransom, Weldon, N. C, is a great favorite. She was joined this week by her mother, Mrs. M. W. Pansom, and her brother, Mr. Geo. E. Pansom. Mr. and Mrs.. W. O. Blacknall, West Durham, N. C, are among the late ar rivals who will remain several weeks. Mr. B. A. Leake, West Durham, and Mrs. Charles Hoot, lialeigh, are charm ing additions to our party. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rogers, Round Lake, N. Y., come for a long sojourn. Automohiling at Ormond. Ormond, Fla., Feu. 28 Ormond's popularity among automobilists remains unquestioned. No course in the world approaches the beach track and lovers of the sport annually assemble here in in creasing numbers from all quarters ot the globe to enjoy it. This is shown very forcibly by the list of automobiles quarter ed at the Hotel Ormond garage, and which includes the following machines : OWNED BY ADDRESS MAKE C. G. Sterns, Lynn, Mass. Orient. E. R.
