Monkey Golf Tourney Entertains the
Playful Golfers.
The golf frolics which are always an
enjoyable part of the winter's fun here,
were begun last week with a "monkey
tourney," two teams of six members each
fighting it out to the nineteenth hole.
The "official scorers" declare that the
aggregation of comets, paced by O. B.
Prescott, won by a single stroke and one
up, over an array of satellites coached
by T. R. Newbold, but official scorers
count for little in this game, and the de
cision has, as usual, been protested.
The make-up of the teams included
Prescott, mashie ; White, niblick ; Dodd,
midiron; Goodall, cleek; Dr. Hill, putter,
and Lyon, brassie Peacock, mashie;
Rollins, niblick; Ormsbee, midiron;
Lightbourn, cleek; Robinson, putter,
and Bruce, brassie.
The alleged medal play scores were 134
and 135, respectively, in detail containing
numerous sixes, sevens and eights with
an even half dozen that took two figures
to record. Fearing that some expert
would figure the result out differently
than that announced, and thereby cause
a riot, the Country Club Secretary has
filed the card in his archives and refuses
to give it to the press.
