The Outlook's Annual Tourney. HE OUTLOOK'S annual golf tournaments for the children filled in a busy afternoon for mothers and furnished excite ment that knew no con trol for a big company of contestants, in face of which the St. Valentine's tourna ment was only an incident. Four tro phies were offered, one for the best gross score and two for the best net scores, for the boys, and one for the winner of a clock green putting competition for the girls. The trophies were all selected by a com mittee of children, the boys selecting three dainty cups and the girls a statuette of a saddle pony, which many older peo ple said they would not mind winning themselves. The day was a perfect one, just a joy to be in the fresh air and sun shine, and a score or more of people were interested followers of the various matches, for the eagerness and earnest ness of the occasion were contagious. THE BOYS TOURNAMENT. The boys tournament was a nine-hole medal play handicap on the short course, Tufts, Dorothy Coleman and Eleanor Brown finishing in the order given. OTHER EVENTS PLANNED. The interest aroused by the tourna ment has led to plans for other contests, and in addition, there is talk of a tennis tourney and field sports, among them a foot relay or team race. The Rooiter finds the Moon. Because he had eaten too much supper a rooster one night was unable to sleep, and he just had to' sit up on the roost and gaze out through the cracks in the hen house roof at the stars while all the rest of his family slept and snored. He thought the stars were very won derful, and the moon seemed marvelous. The next day as he was crossing a field he came across a ball one of those fancy colored bouncing balls that children love to play with. Now, Mr. booster had never seen one of them before, and he did not know what it was. "This must be the moon that 1 saw last night," he said finally. Russell Coleman, Jr., led the field with the best gross score, playing from scratch, and scoring sixty-four. Next in line was J. 13. McCall, Jr., who had six strokes, and won the net score trophy with sixty- two ; the second net score prize going to Walter Brown, whose allowance was twenty-five, and who made sixty-five net. Francis Jordan (fifteen,) was next in line with sixty-seven : Richard Tuf ts,scratch, close after with sixty-nine, Charles New- bold (twelve,) following with seventy three, and Charles Sayles (four,) making eighty-one, and Wells Richardson (thirty,) one hundred and fifteen. THE GIRLS TOURNAMENT. The girls played once around the clock putting green, medal play scores count ing, and handicaps being allotted, Esther in the sky? It is very beautiful, it is true, but I would like to see it shine as it did last night. I suppose it doesn't shine during the day, so I'll wait until night and see it." So Mr. Rooster sat down by the ball and waited. The sun went down, and it grew dark, and black clouds hid the stars and all the sky, but still the ball would not shine. "It is very strange," declared the rooster as he sat and waited. All the other chickens had gone to roost hours before, but still the rooster watched and waited. Then the wind began to blow and the thunder to roll and the lightning to flash, and the first thing Mr. Rooster knew it was raining in torrents and he was soaked to the skin and most frightened out of his wits, "I'll save the moon," he cried, and he grabbed up the ball and tried to run with it. When he reached the hen house door,
