In 1903 he wrote "The Lions of the Lord" and the next year "The Seeker"' was published. "The Boss of Little Arcady" was written in 1905 and "Sw ing's Lady" in 1907; For several years past Mr. Wilson has been associated with Mr. Tarkington in writing plays, the first of which, "The Man from Home," has enjoyed a splendid run for two years past. Just at present new plays for Otis Skinner and Madge Carr Cook are being written, much of the work being done here in connection with the enjoyment of outdoor life; a half holiday as it were. Mr. Wilson has lived much in Paris and Italy with Mi Tarkington, a life of which he is very fond and in which he has found many motifs. III. IIAIIDV WINS PIITOL Cl'P. Opening- Tournament Provide Keen Competition. The first of the pistol tournaments attracted a large field, Dr. E. M. Hardy of Richmond, who shot from scratch, winning with a score of 375 from Mrs. II. V. Wurdeman of Milwaukee, whose handicap was fifty and who scored 360 net. Samuel Edelman (0) made 276 and A. W. Church (50) 270. C. S. Heinz made 216, S. liruce Elwell 211, Dr. Kingsley Field 196, Dr. A. L. Bragg 126, and E. It. Pooley III. The event was fifty shots at twenty yards, U. S. R. A. targets. Interest aroused has led to plans for a series of handicap events. ;iits or miss Esther. Crame and Dancing- Hound Out Merry Evening- at the Mvntlc. Miss Esther Tufts entertained her young friends Wednesday evening in observance of her eleventh birthday, the guests including Misses Katherine and Elizabeth Leach, Dorothy Coleman, Eleanore Abbe, Ellen McMillan, Amelia Richards and Masters Russell Coleman, Lincoln, Henry and Leverett Cummings, llichard, James and Albert Tufts. Following the supper with a monster birthday cake bearing eleven candles, games and dancing rounded out a merry evening. Pool Tournament in JProg-reNM. The pool tournament at the Village Bowling Alley is arousing much interest. Mr. Henry B. Callendar has offered a consolation trophy and there are also first and second prizes for the two highest scores. IIun Breakfaiti in the field. The week's fox hunts provided fast runs in which many participated, and a novelty is planned in the way of hunt breakfasts to be served picnic fashion in the field at the close of the hunting. Holly Inn Defeat Carolina on Point System. A revival of the old time team matches between The Carolina and The Holly Inn filled in Thursday afternoon pleasantly, the latter tenm winning seven to two on " A Point for the Match " system. The inauguration of a series of weekly parties at The Magnolia was a pleasant feature of the week. Four tables of euchre were played, Miss M. A. Sauter and Miss Bessie Griffin, Mr. John E. Kel logg and Mrs. H. G. White, winning the prizes offered. Following play refresh ments were served. Five hundred is the program for the week to come. Mr and Mrs. S. D.
