The Handicraft Shop was formally opened Thursday, and few Villagers missed the opportunity to inspect the display, without doubt one of the most interesting and fascinating ever shown, the effect heightened by effective and appropriate decorations.. One of the most tempting and attract lve features is the display! of home made candies on the "fresh daily" plan, shown beneath a tiny pergola entwined with bright-berried holly and covered with autumn leaves. Another new feature is found in the "do-with" toys and the name tells the story and along the same line for chil dren, are Russian, Japanese, Mexician, native and other similar novelties ; not to mention the irrepressible jig-saw puzzles for little ones and grown-ups. The display of Arts and Crafts rugs is unusually large and fine, almost end less in variety and size, and there are also curtains, bed spreads and table covers of many sorts. Pottery is shown in many styles Rus- sian-Mayohka, Japanese and Native varying in form and color. Russian brass and copper ware and carved Russian boxes, not to mention the Japanese bam boo fern baskets, are all wonderfully decorative. . Very dainty is the miniature antique furniture, perfect to the minutest detail ; in striking contrast with native tables, stools, etc., made from birdseye maple and rhododendron woods. Then there are wonderful feather fans, attractive hangers by "Dixie Leach," leather work, and souvenirs without end but this will never do, for the exhibition is like a good book ; it cannot be described. Many Enjoy Driving-. Seldom has driving been more gener ally enjoyed, for countryside roads, glowing in autumn foliage, are never more fascinating than at this season. Among those who are devoted to the recreation are Mr. and Mrs J. C. Mc Creery, Mr. and Mrs P. T. Ackerson, Mr. and Mr. H. R. Mallinson, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ramsen Boerum. Thus is apparent the influence of good roads accomplishment, opening up as it does a wealth of interest ing territory hitherto difficult of access. Mr. and Mr. Tufts Entertain. Mr. and Mrs II. W. Ormsbee, Mr Fred erick Bruce and Miss Bruce were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tufts at dinner at the Inn Wednesday. Tennis Court for Mr. Iiedfleld.. Mr. and Mrs. Tyler L. Redfield are hav ing a tennis court built on the grounds near their villa. Mr. McGregor Returns. Mr. W. W. McGregor of Bethlehem, returns for the winter as assistant to Postmaster Barrett.
