Shortly after leaving Pinehurst a intricate trail was struck, which unraveled an hour known. Then the returning Master joined in the chase and relentlessly the pair followed, determined that the New Year must start right, with a reward in a kill, late in the afternoon. "Fleet and powerful as he was," says the Mas ter, "we literally ran him off his feet, for confident of his speed, he resorted to it entirely. I have always contended that the red could be caught if he would keep running, and this run satisfies me fully in this particular."
