In the second round Mr. Bobbins won an uphill victory from Allan Lard, twice "United" champion, through a brilliant rally on the homeward journey. One down at the ninth, he squared the match on the tenth, lost it on the eleventh, gained a lead of two up on the next three holes, lost the fifteenth, won the six teenth and the match on the short seven teenth. In Mr. Bobbins' first round with C. B. Eddy of Ridgewood, it was nip and tuck to the twenty-first green. Two up at the turn, the Ridgewood player squared the match on the eighteenth, a fast three deciding it in Mr. Bobbins' favor on the twenty-first. Another fast first division match was between F. T. Keating of Lenox and W. C. Johnson of Canoebrook. One down at the turn Mr. Johnson squared the match on the home green, but lost on the twenty-second. Young Bobeson ad vanced to the semi-final on a nineteen hole win from Mr. Johnson. Three down at the turn, the lad squared the match on the sixteenth, lost the seventeenth, won the eighteenth and the extra hole. The were trophies for division winners and runners-up, and consolation winners, the list including: W. E. Truesdell of Huntington, Homer Boyer of Southboro and T. J. Check of Audubon, in the sec ond ; B. C. Shannon, 2nd of Oak Hill, Prof. H. E. Cushman of Oakley and A. P. MacMahan of the Boyal and Ancient in the third ; J. E. Haines of Swarthmore, II. L. Putnam of Montreal, and E. Heikel of New York, in the fourth. Full quali fication scores and match play summaries printed upon pages four and five. Or eat Corn Country News comes from Kansas that a boy in that state recently climbed a corn stalk to see how the corn was getting along and now the stalk is growing up faster than the boy can climb down. Three men have undertaken to cut down the stalk with axes, but it grows so fast that they can't hit twice in the same place. The boy is living on raw corn and has al ready thrown down over five bushels of cobs. Boys' Golf Tournament The first of the Boys' Golf Handicaps for Outlook trophies is scheduled for this afternoon, details of arrangement in the hands of the committee including Masters Stacy Bobeson and Henry Cum- mings. En Ad of Village Club Bridge in aid of the Village Club's charitable fund is announced for Mon day afternoon next, 2.30 to 5, at Bed Gables, the home of Mrs. C. A. Sinclair. The invitation is general. Trophies for the midwinter Trophies for the Midwinter golf tour ney, placed on view during the week, are attracting much attention. Their value is in excess of $1,000 and they are in exquisite taste. Chapel Services The Pinehurst Chapel is under the con trol of The Pinehurst Religious Associa tion and services are maintained through out the season.
