Ideal conditions made trailing easy but reynard was wary and did not wait for greet ings, gaining fully an hour in his start and doing no loitering. Hough going it was for the fox picked the most impos sible places and gradually the lead was reduced until the pack broke forth in the joyous medley of the warm trail. Reynard then resorted to a series of log hopping and doubling which has not been surpassed during the winter keeping close to the Village and mainly in scrub oak cover, but gradually the lead was re duced, a clever double failed and it was a sight race to the death, with Miss Chapin first in. Others in the field were the Misses Ilefferman, Reed and Durant, Mrs. Lovett and Messrs. Chapin, Hitch cock, Banes, Gouside, Moore, Durant, Telfer and Rich. For the immediate future the congenial group which has enjoyed the sport with Mr. and Mrs. Twitty, is planning numer ous rides and picnics, announcement of which is made elsewhere. 11 EST SELECTED SCORES Phillip, Pottle and Decker Lead in .Novel Competition C. Have you had a disap pointment? Has fate been unkind? Consult your grouchometer. It is simply a little schedule of possible future misfor tunes which one draws up beforehand. In nine cases out of ten one finds that some mischance that actually befalls one is not on the list. Why ? Because it has not entered into one's mental calcula tions, because no real importance has been given to it in calm reflective mo ments. Therefore, reasons French logic, why worry about it? If the misfortune is on the list then there is still less rea son for worry because if we expected it it shows that we had time to think things out and the case finds us armed against its possibilities.
