G. ltoyall was an occasion of merriment at The Carolina on Thursday evening. The pipe, of Mr. lloyall's own creation, was made from a huge native gourd, some six inches in diameter, lined with plaster of paris and fitted with reed stem, amber mouth-piece and ferrules made from 20-caliber shot gun cartridges. " What'll 1 smoke in it ? " queried Mr. Bowen. "Try a bale of hay," was Mr. Royall's suggestion.
