AS A graceful tribute
to a remarkable season
and a Village upon
whose fame the sun
never sets, comes the
announcement of the
purchase of the Mystic
cottage, the largest and
most attractive of the
winter homes here, by Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Hunter of Noroton Heights,
Conn, f Annual visitors for many years,
they are warmly welcomed to the large
list of buyers which have made the pres
ent season history-making.
Mr. Hunter as a Socialist leader and
writer occupies a prominence which is
nation-wide, and as a golfer he has con
tributed his part in maintaining . Pine
hurst's preeminence in the world of
sports, t Mrs. Hunter is a daughter of
Mr. Anson Phelps Stokes, and her sister
is the Baroness Halkett.
Yesterday afternoon the purchase of
an attractive lot between the Village
Chapel and the Walnut cottage was an
nounced; a transfer which is significant
because the buyers, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry S. Houston of Holyoke, are com
pleting their first season here. f They
will come down early in the fall to
superintend building and will live in the
Arbutus cottage which they occupied
this winter, f The new home will be an
attractive one, costing in the vicinity of
$5,000. A garage will also be built and
the grounds made most attractive.
Mr. A. S. Newcomb, who has handled
the numerous transfers of the winter,
announces a number of interested possi
bilities, and is confident that the remain
ing weeks of the season will witness im
portant additions to the list.

A speedy one hundred forty-six cap.
tured the Championship gold medal and
$100.00 for Tom McNamara, the Boston
professional, in the Open Championship.
McNamara's seventy-four equalled the
best round of the morning and his after
noon's seventy-two pulled him through
a winner with a liberal margin of four
strokes, t One hundred and fifty, which
is good enough for the average, tied
M. J. Brady of Wollaston and John Dow
ling of Scarsdale for second and third
money, amounting to $75 which they
divided. Brady, was also the winner of
the special prize of $25 for the best single
round of the day with his afternoon's
seventyone. Dowling's rounds were a
brace of seventy-fives. The cards :
