include the usual tree at
The Carolina, with vau
deville or minstrelsy, followed by a dance
which will speed the old and welcome the
New Year, on the following Thursday.
The program of recreations in the open
air will be an extended one, including the
tenthannual Holiday golf tournament
which rounds out the month, starting on
the 27th. Quail and trap shooting, fox
hunting, riding, and motoring will be
made much of with the usual Carolina
hops and dinners and the various affairs
of the cottage colony.
Among the hostesses of the week were
Mrs. C. B. Hudson at the Dogwood, Mrs.
H. W. Ormsbee at the Cypress, and Mrs.
E. B. Pratt at the Orange, who enter
tained at bridge. Mrs. H. W. Priest gave
a small Carolina luncheon for Mesdames
Dunlap, Ormsbee, Hudson and Newcomb,
and Miss Phelps. 1 Mr. Leonard Tufts
was dinner host to a party of financial
men who spent Monday here, stopping
off for the day on a trip through the
South for the purpose of investigating
railroad conditions. In the group were
