An innovation of the present season is challenge cups which must be won in three tournaments before ownership can be obtained. Bryan Alley and his son "Jack" are among the number enj jying the ex cellent quail-shooting ; their best bag eighteen birds. Late last week they en joyed the novel experience of locating no less than four big covies in and around a deserted cabin. On approaching the house one covey flew from an angle, while a second flushed from the porch. Later some twenty birds went skimming out of the broken windows. 1 Investigating, the sportsmen found that the cabin had been used to store cow-pea hay, and the birds were enjoying an undisturbed treat. 19 and 20, and a similar event for men on February 25, 26 and 27.
