Here for Their Honeymoon
Mr. H. O. Whittpenn and his bride,
who was Mrs. Caroline B. Alexander of
Castle Point, will leave today for Pine
lmrst, N. C. where they will spend a brief
honeymoon. Despite the wealth and
prominence of the couple their wedding
Wednesday in the Protestant Episcopal
Church of the Holy Innocence, Hoboken,
N. J., founded by the bride 's mother, was
extremely simple. The ceremony was
attended by two hundred persons, rela
tives and friends who have been asso
ciated with Mrs. Alexander in her philan
thropic and social works.
Mr. Whittpenn was formerly Mayor
of Jersey City, and although he is now
one of the most prominent political lead
ers in the State, besides being naval
officer of the port of New York, in defer
ence to his own wishes none of his many
political friends attended the wedding.
H The Rev. George E. Magill performed
the ceremony, and the bridegroom was
attended by his private secretary, Mr.
Thomas Meaney, Jr. Mrs. Alexander was
accompanied by her brother, Major Rich
ard Stevens, who gave her away at the
altar. If The ushers were Messrs. Ogden
Hammond, Theodore Stevens and Palmer
Campbell. As wedding gifts
the bride gave checks to the Day Nursery
and Christ and St. Mary's hospitals. She
also arranged dinners for the Day Nurs
ery, the children at the Jefferson Street
playground and the United Aid Home, the
patients in St. Mary's Hospital, the in
mates of the Widows' Home, the Clinton
Reformaory for Women and the members
of the Mothers ' Meeting of the Church of
the Holy Innocents. New York Telegram.

Pox hunters have been a moving ' all
the week in spite of the fact that they
Sot rather lost in the advertising golf
tourney shuffle. Nipped the aspirations
of one fast one and found their match in
a typical tar-heel racer. But best of all
is next week, and the weeks after that.
Sandhill Board of Trade atallihes
JVew and Helpful Department
The Sandhill Board of Trade wishes
to do everything it can to help the farm
ers of this section find the best of markets
for any farm products that they have for
sale. Therefore, if the farmers take suf
ficient interest in the plan outlined be
low, the Board of Trade will do the work
free of charge. The plan is very simple.
If any man in this section has corn, oats,
pigs, chickens, horses, cows, hay, or any
other farm products to sell he should
notify the Secretary of the Sandhill
Board of Trade whose office is at Aber
deen, describing the property, and giv
ing the price asked. Farm tools such as
wagons, plows, harrows, etc., will also
be handled, at least until further notice.
These articles will be advertised in local
papers. The name of the owner will not
be published. Anyone wishing to buy an
article advertised will write to the Secre
tary of the Board of Trade, who will put
the buyer in touch with the owner.
We hope that from this simple begin
ning a complete co-operative exchange and
market, which is badly needed here, can
be built up. Now, Mr. Sandhill Farm
er, this is up to you. It is your business.
It won't cost you a cent. You take no
risks whatever. There is no chance to
lose anything and there a chance to profit
by this arrangement. If you show inter
est enough in this proposed undertaking
we shall go ahead with it. Therefore, if
you want better markets in this section
write out a list of what you have for
sale together with the prices you ask and
mail it this week. If If the plan is wel
comed by the farmers it will be
thoroughly tried out. Clyde Davis, Secy.
