Not alone was the affair one of the season's most brilliant social events, but dancing competitions made it one of the most entertaining affairs of the season in which the entire household joined. The opening number was the "lucky dance ' ' in which the couples were elimin ated by draw j Mrs. W. B. Lasher of New Bedford, Mr. A. L. Alfred of Providence the survivors. Next in order was the hesitation waltz in which the judges, the Misses Lillian Gillette and Margaret Hooker of Concord, N. II., the dancing teachers, and Mrs. Clarence Whitney of Hartford selected Mr. and Mrs. J. M. York was an inimitable master of cere monies, and Mr. Erman J.
