NOME ItKtL MIIOUTIX The Annie OaLUy Exhibition While the giant presses of the Pine hurst Outlook were hurrying the Christ mas Number toward completion last week in time for delivery to its expectant and impatient readers on Christmas Eve Annie Oakley (Mrs. Frank E. Butler) was delighting all of Pinehurst and large 'assemblage of visitors from other places near and far by a remarkable exhi bition of Trick Shooting, at the Gun Club. We are consoled for the fact that our unimportant tribute and homage to this most wonderful of all women shots ap pears a trifle late in the day, by the fur ther fact that Annie Oakley needs no praise, from us or others. It is sufficient to say that the exhibition showed clearly that Annie Oakley has lost none of the skill and accuracy that won her a niche all her own in the palmiest days of the Buffalo Bill exhibitions. With both wind and sun against her, she went untiringly and successfully through many of the trick shooting 'stunts' so long associated with her name and that used to make her entry into the arena the signal for tumul tuous applause. On our first page, in the place of especial honor, where it belongs, we print a picture of Annie Oakley taken at the exhibition and snapped just fc,s she smashed to flinders a flying clay ball swung at a distance in a whirling circle.. Paper Chase with Excellent Ending Oil Wednesday afternoon several of the younger set bestrode tneir respective nery steeds and . paper chased, largely through the woods. Miss Tufts, Mr. McCaddon, Jr., Miss Hoffman and the Messrs- Field and Ogden were among those who took part. It seems to have been a first class chase but the only definite detail our re porter was able to glean was that the tea was very fine. It was served at Mrs. Tuft's house, at the finish.
