At the Berkshire
The Berkshire Hotel opened last week
with an inrush of visitors including a
large number of gunners taking part in
the Midwinter Handicap. Foremost
among the guests is our old friend, Col.
John W. Vroomon. He has been a wel
come figure in the Carolinas ever since in
the disguise of an invader he participated
in he attack on Fort Fisher. He is Past
Grand Master of the New York Masons,
and recently at a metting of the Grand
Lodge of North Carolina discovered that
the Past Grand Master of North Carolina,
Sam Smith, was opposed, to him in
that struggle.
