THE PINEHURST OUTLOOK
HOLIDAY GUESTS ARRIVING
Carolina Hotel Taking on Christ
mas Aspect
Last week witnessed the com
ing of the railroad magnates and
an influx of Tin Whistlers and
what might be called a strong
undertone of sportsmen, come to
take advantage of the unusually
good shooting. The Carolina has
never been so lively before at this
time of year, a great many guests
having already come for the holi
days, which promises to be more
of an occasion than usual in the
village. The fox trot is heard
once more in the evening and the
perrenial bridge fiends solve
knotty problems at the old stand.
J. S. Russell and William R.
Driver have come from Boston to
repeat their last year's record on
the preserve ; George Crocker, Jr.,
of Fitchburg is a substantial ad
dition to the jockey club, and a
strong rider in the Gentlemen's
purse ; Mr. W. H. Thayer of Bos
ton has arrived with Mrs. Thayer
and Miss Nancy, and with W. W.
Peabody of New York and H. R.
Mallinson is out to trim the Tin
Whistles. Other enthusiastic
