THE opening of the Club for the Summer months and the greatly increased interest in golf manifest this last year by the residents of the Carolinas has led to opening the formal tournament season a couple of weeks earlier than previously. The first competition will be on November 10, for the benefit of the many Carolina players developed here and throughout the Carolina Association. Here is a complete schedule of golfing events, the rules of entry and handicaps and prizes as handed us by the governors of the Pinehurst Country Club. Thirteenth Annual St. Valentine 's Tournament. January 30, 31, l ebruary 2f 3. Gold Medal for best qual ification score; President's Trophy to winner of first sixteen ; Governors ' Secre tary 's, Treasurer's, Captain's and Club Trophies to winners of next five sixteens; trophy to winner of seventh and eighth sixteens; sterling trophies to first, second and third division runners-up and consolation division winners; silver medals to division runners-up and con solation division winners in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth divisions. And special consolation tournament. Eleventh Annual St. Valentine's Tournament for Women. February 7. 8, 9, 10. Qualifying round and finals, eighteen holes on the morning of each day. One or more eights to qualify ; eighteen holes to be played each day. Gold Medal for best qualification score; sterling trophies for winners and runners- up in each eight. Thirteenth Annual Spring Tourna ment. February 26, 27, 28, March 1, 2, 3. Qualifying round, thirty-six holes; finals, thirty-six holes, in first division only; eighteen holes in all other divisions. Gold medal for best qualification score; President's, Governors' Secretary's Treasurer's, Captain's and Club Trophies to winners of first six sixteens; trophies to winners of seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth divis ions; sterling trophies to first, second third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh division runners-up and consolation divis ion winners: silver medals to division runners-up and consolation division win ners in the eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth divisions. Kindly make entries as far in advance as possi ble. Post and telegraph entries are both accepted. The charge for the use of the links and courts is one and a half dollars by the day, six dollars by the week, twenty dol lars by the month and thirty dollars for the season. Children under fourteen, one- half rates. Season tickets for member's wife and children under twenty-one years, ten dollars.
