RESIDENT PHYSICIAN FOR PINEHURST Office at The Carolina Hours: 10 to 11 a. m., or by appointment A Wonderful Finish (Concluded from page four) matches, and equal to the medal. At the very outset Miss Ros enthal gave promise of victory by defeating Mrs. Barlow 2 up. Mrs. Barlow held on to the last green, and made exactly the same medal score recorded by the victor. The match had this unusual feature that Mrs. Bar low won six holes, every one of which was at least partially due to Miss Rosenthal's being in a on Mrs. Hurd's errors. The de ciding points were taken on the 12th and 13th, which left Mrs. Hurd three up on the 16th. Playing Mrs. J. H. Price of Oakmont in the semi-finals Miss Rosenthal was two down at the 7th, but worked up to one up on the 13th. Miss Price drove into the pond on the way to the six teenth, and lost the match on the 17th to the inevitable drive on the green. The excellent quality of the rest of the performance can be judged by the fact that she won eight of the remaining twelve from the champion. Miss Caverly, the runner-up in the National, met Mrs. Hurd on the first round. These two played the closest golf of any in the whole tournament most of the way. . Going out Mrs. Hurd won two holes, in both cases due to stymies; Miss Caverly took the 10th, the only one she got all day, Huntingdon Valley in a hard and close match in the final round with Mrs. P. J. Grumback, the score being one up. Miss Ger trude Thurston, the Westhamp ton player, beat Mrs. Joe Bydolek on the last putt for the Secre tary's Trophy, while Miss Elea nor Abbe by the same narrow margin took the Treasurer's Division from Mrs. J. P. Will iamson.
