Brennan, hailing from Worcester stayed with some hard matches and some close play to a victorious conclusion in the Governor 's Division. The most stubborn ly contested match in the whole affray took place in the final round between Brennan and D. E. Knowlton of Buffalo. It took twenty-one holes to decide the contest in Brennan 's favor. Brennan had put W. T. Barr out by one hole in the first round, J. H. Turner of Forest Hills down three and one; and had taken S. O. Miller, the Englewood Entry, to task two up, in the semi-finals. D. F. McMahan, the well known trap shot of the New York athletic club won the consolation from Geo. W. Statzell of Aronimink two up. THE SECRETARY'S TROPHY. Meanwhile Schroeder, the Montclair expert, sailed through the cream of the local challengers for final honors in the Secretary's Division. H. P. Hotchkiss lost to him on the home green in the first round; J. D. C. Rumsey was the second and W. H. Gregg of St. Louis, his third victim. "W. W. Mllrer Foil Play The ladies of the Silver Foils assem bled on number one golf course Monday last, February 4th, in handicap medal play, the holder of the best twelve se lected holes to win. This proved to be a very close match between Mrs. Donald J. Ross and Mrs. J. D. ohapman. Mrs. Ross, armed with a headstart of 27 strokes landed home with a net score of 59, one better than Mrs. Chapman's total of 60. Mrs. Chapman's actual score of 67 was the second best gross of the day.
