increased interest in
golf manifest this last
year by the residents
of the Carolinas has led
to opening the formal
tournament season on
November 10, for the benefit of the many
players developed here and throughout
the Association.
Here is a complete schedule of golfing
events, the rules of entry and handicaps
and prizes as handed us by the govern
ors of the Pinehurst Country Club.
Fourteenth Annual Spring Tourn
ament. March 4, 9. Qualifying round,
thirty-six holes; finals, thirty-six holes,
in first division only; eighteen holes in
all other divisions. Gold medal for best
qualification score; President's, Govern
ors' Secretary's Treasurer's, Captain's
and Club Trophies to winners of first
six sixteens; trophies to winners of sev
enth, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and
twelfth divisions; sterling trophies to
first, second, third, fourth, fifth, six and
seventh division runners-up and conso
lation division winners; silver medals
to division runners-up ad consolation
division winners in the eighth, ninth,
tenth, eleventh and twelfth divisions.
There will also be a consolation tourna
ment. Sixteenth Annual United North
and South Amateur Championship
for Women. March 23, 25, 26, 27, 28

of each day, four divisions of eight to

antidote for future discussion, the KICK
ER 'S HANDICAP, the ladies of Pine
hurst belonging to the Silver Foils in
augurate a series of golf tournaments
under the leadership of Dorothy Camp
bell Hurd. Coursing through varied and
interesting assortments of play, the pro
gram reaches its climax in the champion
ship on March 11th, and concludes with
the inevitable contest with Bogey in
April. The complete schedule is
February 4 Choice score. Best six
holes in each nine.
February 13 Flag Contest.
February 20 Four Ball. Best Ball.
February 27-28 Handicap tournament,
Classes A and B.
March 8 Choice Score. Best six
holes in each nine.
March 11-12 Silver Foils Champion
ship. March 16 Mixed Foursome.
March 20 Handicap vs. Bogey.
March 27 Medal Bound for those
who have not won.
April 5 Handicap vs. Bogey.
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Higgins enter
tained Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Waring, Miss
Caroline Bogart, Mr. H. G. Phillips and
Admiral Alfred Craven at dinner at the
Pine Crest Inn last Monday evening,
and later went to the Carolina Theatre
to enjoy Sir Gilbert Parker's famous
novel, "The World for Sale," in reel
life.
