THE PINEHURST OUTLOOK j COUNTRY CLUB AllllUALS Schedule of Golf Tournaments the Year for tj)! and Ilule of Competition la Coming- Seou' Play at Pln hurit Concretely Set Forth a. ii n -La THE opening of the Club for the Summer months and the greatly increased interest in golf manifest this last year by the residents of the Carolinas has led to opening - the formal tournament season on November 10, for the benefit of the many players developed here and throughout the Association. Here is a complete schedule of golfing -events, the rules of entry and handicaps and prizes as handed us by the govern ors of the Pinehurst Country Club. Fourteenth Annual Spring Tourn ament. March 4, 9. Qualifying round, thirty-six holes; finals, thirty-six holes, in first division only; eighteen holes in all other divisions. Gold medal for best qualification score; President's, Govern ors' Secretary's Treasurer's, Captain's and Club Trophies to winners of first six sixteens; trophies to winners of sev enth, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth divisions; sterling trophies to first, second, third, fourth fifth, six and seventh division runners-up and conso lation division winners; silver medals to division runners-up ad consolation division winners in the eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth divisions. There will also be a consolation tourna ment. Sixteenth Annual United North and South Amateur. : Championship for Women. March 23, 25, 26, . 27, 28 : .Qualifying round ' and , finals, - eight een holes to be played on the morning of each day, four divisions of eight to qualify, Gold medal for best qualifica tion score. Championship Trophy to winner of first eight; Governors' Secre tary 'a and Treasurer 's Trophies to win ners of next three divisions and Sterl ing Trophies to the runner-up and con solation winners in each division. Eighteenth Annual North and South .Open Championship. March 29 and 30. Seventy-two holes medal play ; amateur . winning to receive a trophy. First prize for professionals 4300; 'second prize $200: third $150; fourth $100; fifth $75; sixth $60; sev enth $50; eighth $40; ninth $30; tenth $25. Player making best score receives championship gold medal. Eighteenth Annual United North and South Amateur Championship. Pril 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Qualifying round and finals, thirty-six holes. Gold medal for best qualification score; Champion ship Trophy to winner of first sixteen: Governors' Trophy. to winner of second sixteen; Secretary's Trophy to winner of laird sixteen; Treasurer's Trophy to ir.ner of fourth sixteen; Captain's Trophy to winner of fifth sixteen; Club rt,pny to winner of sixth sixteen; sterling trophies to division runners-up and consolation division winners in all divisions. A woman 's Putting Contest for a Sil ver Trophy is held every Saturday afternoon. requirements In sending or making entries, please be careful to give full name, club mem bership, and city or town address. LAUIE8 DAYS Silver Foils Prog-ram for the Year Having started with that certain antidote for future discussion, the KICK ER 'S HANDICAP, the ladies of Pine hurst belonging to the Silver Foils, in augurate a series of golf tournaments under the leadership of Dorothy Camp bell Hurd. Coursing through varied and interesting assortments of play, the pro gram reaches its climax in the champion ship on March 11th, and concludes with the inevitable contest with Bogey in April. The complete schedule is March 8 Choice Score. Best six holes in each nine. March 11-12 Silver Foils Champion ship. March 16 Mixed Foursome. March 20 Handicap vs. Bogey. March 27 Medal Eound for those who have not won. April ' 5 Handicap vs. Bogey. Called to the Colors The colony has just suffered a great loss in the departure of Julian Bishop. After a. great many efforts and unsuc cessful bouts with the army doctors he has finally succeeded in being accepted by the United States Army, and is off to make use of his experience in hunting big , game, where it will do the most good. Hampton Quartette Coming: " The famous negro quartette from the Hampton Institute will be in Pinehurst and will sing their inimitable Pantation songs at the Carolina and the Holly Inn on the 17th and the 18th of March. Further announcement of the program will be given at a later date. Guest of Sirs. Waters Mrs. Luciau Horton from Lowell, Massachusetts, is spending the month in Pinehurst as a guest of Mrs. Spencer Waters at her Winter residence.
