This is the sort of thing that puts a

RUMSEY LEADS THE FIELD
But incidentally there was a handsome
reward in the locker for the best ball
over number one with club handicaps.
And here it was that J. D. C. Rumsey
shone. He cracked out a ninety-seven,
which ' translated in the handicap code
read 73. This was too fast for every
one but F. S. Pusey, whose 17 leeway
brought him in at the same figure. T.

just ahead, of the press that recorded

This . called for a play-off. And in
this Rumsey was in no wise to be denied.
He demonstrated that his card had lit
tle of the element of luck in it by re
peating his score to a fraction, and
coming back with another 73 net.
Pusey could not stand the pace. He
made a 97 also. But his allowance be
ing only, 17 he fell seven strokes behind
"the needful, and yielded the palm with
good grace.
