Williams, 83, and Lieut.-Com. H. C. Laird, of Norfolk, 78. The Army trio was too strong for the men of the sea, however, and won with a total of 265 against the Navy's 245. The winning Army team com prised Major Elliott Ranney, 91; Capt. Tracy H. Lewis, 89; Lieut-Col. R. H. Morse, 85. Tin Whistles Versus Bogey Over a half hundred Tin Whistles, divided in three handicap brigades, hurled themselves against Bogey on the Number Two course, just after our last number went to press. C. H. Fownes was the bright partic ular star of this occasion. Fownes led the Class A field at 5 up; turned in the best net score of the day; an 1 carried off the low gross honors with a 41-37,78, which is good enough as it stands but would have been even bet ter if C. B. had not elected to take a 5 on the ninth and another 5 on the seventeenth. Save for that last nam ed 5, Fownes played every hole, com ing in, in 4. C. B. Hudson carried off the Class B prize.
