Mrs. Eonald H. Barlow, to whom the Silver Foils Championship is no unac customed honor, regained the title from Mrs. J. V. Hurd, leading the later by a margin of two strokes at the comple tion of the 36 holes. Mrs. Barlow and Mrs. Hurd tied for the lead, on Wed nesday, at 85, Mrs. Barlow playing the round in 45-40, and the North and South champion in 41-44. On Thurs day Mrs. Barlow went out in 40 and led the title rolder by 5 strokes at that stage of the contest, but Mrs. Hurd gradually reduced her disadvan tage on the way in and, at the 17th stood at 169 for 35 holes, with Mrs Barlow at 168. A fine 3 for Mrs Hurd, at the 18th, called for a 4 from Mrs. Barlow, to tie, and a 3 to win, and the new champion made things dou bly sure by driving the green and sink ing a 15 foot putt for a brilliant 2, This gave her the victory at 170, to 172 for Mrs. Hurd. Mrs. J. R. Price, of Pittsburg, took third honors, with a total of 92-91, 183, and was followed by Mrs. M. J. Scam mell, of the Baltimore Country Club, at 191, and Miss Sara Fownes, of the Oakmont Club, at 195. Miss Kate Bomann, who occupied the thirteenth place on "Wednesday, at 104 went out in 45 and came home in 48 for a 93 which pulled her up to sixth plae, just behind Miss Fownes, and gave her a total of 197 for the two davs' plav. Others who finished in 200 or better were Mrs. J. D. Chapman, 198; Mrs. A. J. Harris, 190; and Mrs. J. D. Arm strong, who finished in an even 100 on each day. ' The net score contest was won by Mrs. H. H. Rackham, of Detroit, with a total of 215-36, 179. Miss Winifred Cullen, of Canoe Brook, led on Wed nesday, at 88 net, but was passed on Mrs. R. C. A1KVAL 91IXEU FOUIlllOIVIS Of The Tin Whittles a Field of 102 Turn Out for the Event The annual Mixed Foursomes of the Tin- Whistles, played on the Number One course on Monday, called out a field of 102 contestants the 51 pairs be ing divided in three handicap classes. Mr. and Mrs. John D. Chapman ot Greenwich, who went over the course in 85 alternate strokes, led the Class A field and captured the grand prix with a net round of 85-5, 80. The Class B prizes went to G. W. Mead and his partner, Mrs. M. P. Lewis, who went over the course in 96 18, 78. J. D. C .Rumsey and Mrs. W. E. Truesdell won in Class C, with 101-24, 77. The most remarkable feature of the day was the round made by Parker W. Whittemore and Mrs. J. V. Hurd who covered the course in 76 alternate strokes, which we believe to be a new record.
