FAGE TWELVE THE PINEHUB8T OUTLOOK {Continued from Page 4) tstarted to come up and crossed the line a winner by a length: Little Horn could not keep up in the last quarter and was badly beaten for the place. It was left for His Nibbs, with Miles up, to startle the onlookers wlien he led a field of sprinters home in the one mile flat race, beating out Galley Head. Call up, who won the Annual Fall Flat event last week. This was one of the best contests of the day and resulted in a stirring finish. Galley Head was hus tled to the fore at the very start and one stage of tlie game found him nearly two lengths in front, but His Nibbs came along with a rush and roar in the lagt quarter that left tliem nearly even at the head of the home stretch. Twenty yards from the line they were neck and neck and ten yards found His Nibbs a fraction in the lead. Galley Head held on gamely to the wire, but lost out by a head. Puck led Supermaid home for a third place, Wasseon, owned by Mr. Swoope coming in last. Mr. Holbrook’s Mildred Euretta, with Miles up, ran to her best form and cap tured the second event of the day, the six- furlong flat. Miles rode into the lead after a furlong and drew away so easily that the race ceased to be a contest at the liead of the stretch. Lyndonia, owned by Mr. Hurd, Chilton Squaw, owned by Mr. Brown, and Mr. Nibb’s Russian Pinion finished in the order named after a heart l)reaking sprint between all three horses in the stretch, Lyndonia winning the place by a neck . While the sprinters were having their innings the real money event of the day was the two-twelve pace for the purse of $250.00, which was won by David B., who captured the first two heats and coming home third in the last. Prince Pepper, who was picked as the favorite, was eliminated from the first two heats by breaking, hut won the third. Joe Hamilton again nmde away with the Class A. harness event, winning both heats with eare. Mr, J. C. Thomas gave an excellent exhibition of trotting when he won the amateur saddle horse trotting race on Captain. Mr. Herbert Cameron, on Beagle, came in second. Messrs Rich, Gunther and Henry Swoope Avere the other entries and came liome in the order named. Army aviators from Camp Bragg again thrilled the gallery with hair- raising stunts above the field, and for awhile interest was lost in watching the steeds on the ground in preference to the steeds of the air. THE RULING PASSION ‘‘I’ve just had some good news,” said Bernstein, upon meeting his friend Mr. Abrahams. “My son Solly has got a commission in the Army.” ‘ ‘ Go on, ’ ’ replied Abrahams, rub bing his hands; ‘‘how much?”—Tid Bits.
