Jenkg and family, of Harbor Beach, Mich., have opened up their cottage facing the vil lage green. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Statzell .*ire now quartered in their new home down near the golf links. Mr. and Mrs. L. F. F. wanner, of Hempstead, L. I., are occupying the Little Brick House. Mrs. Wanner brings to the Kennel’ Club valuable ex perience in handling dogs and dog shows. The Pinehurst School for Boys cele brated the close of the Fall Term by a dance on the evening of Dec. 19, atten ded l)y pupils and friends. Coming at the closo of term examinations and on the eve of two weeks of* vacation, it served as a pleasant relaxation for the niembers af the staff, as well as,for the boys, and formed a fitting introduction the gayeties of the Christmas season. The schoolroom was decorated for the occasion with holly and mistletoe and its warmtli and cheer furnished a pleas ant contrast to the inclement weather which ])revailed that evening. Punch graced the side-table and at 10:30 re freshments consisting of ice-cream and cake were served to the boys and their guests. Among the guests were Mrs. S. Schley, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Joseph Gregory, Mrs. Goodwin and daughter, Mrs. J. G. Splane, Miss Elizabeth and Helen Luce, Miss Morrison, Miss Jean ette Johnson and sister, Miss Emery, Miss Cheatham, Miss Thomas, Miss O’Brien, and Mr. Irving Swoope. Miss Mabelle Bliss was hostess at a farewell partly for Mr. Frank Whit comb at the Country Club 'last Friday afternoon. Tea and dancing was en joyed by Miss Cora Danforth, Miss Minnie Cline, Miss Mona Sanborn, Miss Mabelle Bliss, Lieut. Jack Mitchell, Mr. Frank Whitcomb and Mr. Charles P. Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison B. Huntoon, of Providence, R. I., are welcome ad ditions to the cottage colony. With Mrs. Huntoon’s mother, Mrs. R. B. Hun toon, they will spend the winter at The Albemarle. Passengers taken up by Lieutenant Mitchell this Aveek in his airplane are Mrs. E. P. Spencer, Mrs. A. S. Gilman, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Pic(|uet. Lieut. Mitchell is one of the best flyers in the Royal Air Force of Canada and has never met with an acci dent while carrying passengers. Those who have had a birds-eye view of "Pine- hurst declare that the beauty of the place is not fully appreciated until seen from above. Mr. Allan Lard, the well known golfer, is at the Carolina. Among those motoring over to Camp Bragg’s Horse Show were Mr. and Mrs. G, W. Statzell, Mr. Everett Rich and party, including his mother and Mr. Earnest Rich, of Lawrenceville, Mass. The officers at Camp Brq,gg gave tea in the officer’s mess and did all they could to make it pleasant for their visitors from Pinehurst. They have promised to bring their horses over to The Pinehurst Horse ^how. There was crush of dancers at the Carolina Christmas Night Dance. Among those noted were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Morse, New York, Mr. and Two men further up the line explain to each other the possibilities lying in a raisin, a piece of yeast cake and a bottle of cider. The shoot-off won by Mrs. Hungerford at 141. John Bassett Moore, member of the Permanent Tribunal at The Hague and formerly of the Department of State, is stopping at The Carolina. Mr. W. M. Sanford, of Glen Ridge, N. J., and a party of his guests drove a four horse tallyho to the races on Christ mas Day and the clear notes of the horn added a genuine touch of Christmas to the festivities of the day.
